Holiday Hours and Events

Hi everyone,
So sorry I have been neglecting the blog. I have a lot going on here and will soon be able to spill the beans, until then... I thought that I would let you know what is happening in the studio over the next couple of weeks.

The Friday (Dec 19), I will be in the studio frantically getting Christmas Gifts completed ;) Soooooo, I thought I would make an impromptu Friday Night at the Studio Crop. Cost is $10 and you can crop until midnight (at least) or... if I am up for it and on a roll, maybe even longer. I have 7 seats available -- let me know asap if you would like to join us.

The Studio will be closed on Dec 24 & Dec 25 and will re-open on Boxing Day December 26 at 11:30. It has been mentioned that some people might be interested in getting away and relaxing at the studio after the busy Christmas rush -- if you are interested in cropping you can from 11:30 - 5:30 for sure and, if people are interested in cropping later, I might be convinced to keep the studio open a little longer (with notice). (Regular Studio Fees will apply)

Saturday Dec 27 - the Studio will be hosting a KIDS COLLAGE WORKSHOP. Three collage sessions will run at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. Bring your kids, cousins, neighbours, friends, for a great activity. The kids will create an 8x10 collage on canvas using papers and other found objects. Cost is $15/child (appropriate for children 5-12 (some assistance will be required by a parent with younger kids). Space is limited to 8 kids / session so register early to avoid disappointment.

The Studio will be closed Sunday December 28 - Monday January 5 for my holidays. It will re-open for regular studio hours at 11:30 am Tuesday January 6.

For your convenience I have posted the hours on the side panel of the blog and will also post them on the Go Scrapping Website.

Happy Holidays Everyone!!!!

We are taking reservations for the December Cookout!

The Next Cookout will be on Saturday December 13 12-2:30pm.
The cost is $25(+tax)

Come into the studio for a fun card making afternoon. This month's cookout is all about the GIFT CARD HOLDER. Each of these "cards" is a gift card holder. Some are appropriate for Christmas, others just to say thank you to that special someone any time of year!

The ingredients for the following 5 cards will be available for you to create. You can create all of them, or pick and choose from your favourites! Whatever you choose, there is no minimum number of cards you can create -- it's whatever you create in the 2.5 hour workshop.

Contact Karen at the Studio for more information (519 954-6620) and to make your "reservation".

If you have a group of girls who would like to come and do the cookout at another time -- don't hesitate to ask. Cookouts are available as a private party option here at the studio. (times based on availability)

Two Great Classes - One Fun Afternoon

Sheri East will be in the studio on Saturday December 6 teaching two very fun and creative projects

Why not come and do both?? They would make fabulous gifts and together will cost less than $50.

"DAYS TO REMEMBER"
12pm - 2pm
Sheri used artist canvas, fun little embellishments and die cut images to make this album special to keep or give as a Christmas gift. Sheri also used paint, ink and heat embossing to really make this project special. You will need your basic tool kit, sponge brush, heat gun (if you have one), embossing ink (if you have some), black and brown ink.
Class Fee: $25.00 + tax

"HOME"
3pm-5pm
Sheri has created a unique picture frame that will look great in any decor. You will use different shaped chipboard and die cut images as well as little touches of bling and paint. This project is a must have for your home.
You will need your basic tool kit, and a couple of sponge brushes.
Class Fee: $18 +tax

How's my Sign Looking Now???

We had an exciting afternoon here at the studio.
The Golf Steakhouse sign burst into flames a little after 4pm today -- I suppose it happened when they flicked on the sign when they opened.

Makes me happy for a sign without electricity.......
Here are a couple of shots I took of the "event"

**Update... the pics made the local news!! Too fun. Did you see them?**

Elvis Lives.....

...at least at the Go Scrapping "Vegas" Retreat at Blue Mountain.
The proof in the pudding. Here he is with one of his ex-showgirls :) hehehe
Photobucket

I had a great time hosting a group of fabulous ladies at Blue Mountain again this year. Our Vegas theme was quite the hit with many of the gals "getting into the spirit" and even trying on my "Elvis" costume at various times during the weekend. Too Fun! Congrats Nina, one of our Chorus Line Babes, who won the "spirit award" draw -- I saw her playing with the stuff on the weekend! :)

We had some fun and fabulous classes taught by myself, Judy Beeksma and Sheri East. I loved seeing the ladies take what they learned in class and applying it to their layouts on the weekend. Such great out of the box thinking - truly inspiring!

Make n takes were had by all offered by Sue Martin representing Creative Memories, Kim McArthur representing CTMH, Jen and Juanita from Scraps of Joy and Judy and Sheri too ... at their In A Pinch Designs Booth. Our ladies were punching, stamping and distressing machines! :) hehe. I hope you enjoyed the make n takes as much as our onsite vendors enjoyed sharing them with you!

Here are a few pictures from the retreat weekend.
I know there were a TON of pictures taken at the retreat -- PLEASE feel free to post your pictures in the Go Scrapping Photobucket Site -- there is a link on the side bar of this blog. Love to see some of your photos too.

Thanks for a FABULOUS weekend ladies and congratulations to all our door prize winners!!!!
Can't wait for the next retreat!

A big bummer...
I dragged my camera all over the place yesterday (it's 7am Sunday morning now) and I realized as I sat down to blog for you... I didn't take a single photo! What's up with that??? ....and I call myself a scrapbooker! *shaking head in shame* :) I promise to make up for it today!!!

It was another full class in the interactive studio -- and such a great group of women. It's always a pleasure to teach in this environment and thank you Lisa (from Scrapfest) for allowing me to tag along all weekend. I have truly enjoyed it!

We all went to the CreativFesival Gala last night -- by "we all" I mean I shared a table with my Scrapfest cohorts Lisa and Sandra (of course) but also Catherine from Scrapbook and Cards Today, Alessandra from Stix2, Trisha Ladoceur, and two ladies from Westcott - Celin and (oh, I hope I get this right) Barb. It was lovely sharing a meal with you ladies and I enjoyed the conversation and the "laughs". hehe -- "The foot" will getcha every time - right Catherine?? :) Anyway, I'd love to show you our precious "mugs" but, yep, not one picture.. geesh, I'm slacking!!

Well, I am off to the hotel pool for a little swim :)
then it's back to the show floor for one more "kick at the can". I hear we have sold out for today's workshop now too. That is so exciting!!! I'm thrilled to be a part of it all!

Friday, October 17, 2008

Hello from the CreativFestival

Hellllloooooooo!
I am back at my hotel room after a fabulous day on the show floor at the CreativFestival -- On at the Metro Toronto Convention Center today through Sunday.

I am here with Scrapfest. We are doing a brand new thing here at the festival called the Scrapfest Interactive Workshop.

Today I taught 25 fabulous ladies a little Christmas Layout as part of this workshop and I had to take their picture to show you here!
Say CHEESE!!!!

These ladies not only had the undying privilege of scrapping with me (*cough cough--hehehe*) but they were also taught by 6 other ladies representing different companies who work with Scrapfest. Sounds good right?? :) Even In A Pinch Designs is coming to do the workshop with us on Sunday!! I think there are spots left if you're interested. Today and tomorrow are sold out..... but call/email about Sunday if you like :) (www.csnf.com)

Either way, I hope you have a fabulous "crafty" weekend. I'll post more pics tomorrow :)

*****
On a side note: Don't forget to mark your calendars!! Next weekend is the Go Scrapping Studio Open House! Plan on dropping by to say hi! You know me, I always have something up my sleeve :) A door prize might be in order!! Gotta Celebrate, right?? :)

Studio Open House:

Saturday Oct 25 - 11:30AM until 5:30PM
591 Lancaster Street W, Unit 3
Kitchener 591-954-6620

I just had to share these....
Sheri took a couple of pictures at the Studio on Friday night. 6 of us were there scrapping AND chatting... and yes, laughing. I thought I'd share them here with you.
Photobucket
Sheri.. a self portrait! :)

PhotobucketPhotobucket

I loved having the girls there - it was a fabulous unofficial start to the Go Scrapping Studio.

There will be an open house on Saturday October 25th.
Come see our class samples, check out the space, take a calendar home with you and help yourself to a cup of coffee and a few nibblies too!

See you there!!

Saturday, October 11, 2008

So, I just had to share.
I actually laughed out loud after reading a post on the message board yesterday.
"Betty Crocker" asked about dressing up for the Blue Mountain Retreat -- you know, getting into the whole Vegas Theme.

She said:
A can-can outfit doesn't cut it with me....I need a wee more fabric than 2 shells and a feather !!!!

Oh my goodness, I couldn't contain myself!

So, on that note... I haven't "officially" announced anything about getting dressed-up but if you'd like to I HIGHLY ENCOURAGE IT!! Here was my response.. a list of some ideas.
- a dealer.... (a card one only please Unless its adhesives HAHA)
- An entertainer with paparazzi aka friends (did I spell that right?)
- Then there are your Vegas staples -- Celine, Elvis, Wayne Newton... more recently Bette
- A drink/cigarette girl
- How about a deck of cards?? hehehe

A ballot will be given out to everyone who "gets in the spirit" and dresses up on the Friday Night -- a ballot for an extra door prize.

ENJOY!!!
What are you coming to Blue as?? OR Any other Vegas Themed Dress-up ideas that require a wee more fabric than 2 shells and a feather !!!???

Peterborough 2008

I am "not quite" back from the Peterborough Retreat but wanted to share some of the pictures that I took while hosting 40 awesome ladies at this brand new facility for us. Thanks for making Go Scrapping's first retreat in Peterborough a great success!! You ladies are the best!!

As always I am in awe of the stuff people bring and the creations that they design with it!! ...just take a look at some of these layouts that were entered in the "Best Layout of the Weekend" contest. Congratulations to first time "retreater", Tiffanie, for her "winning" layout Autumn Splendor.

Some of the ladies got right into the cruising experience!! We had Cruising Pirates that were out to steal your ideas (not your product... :) ), some "coconuts" and yes, even "scrappy dee" (please note: not "scrappy dum" hehe) Thanks to all the ladies who dressed for the occasion and thanks to those who decorated their tables too!! It sure made the room look extra festive!

A special thank you goes out to Judy Beeksma and Sheri East of In A Pinch Designs for inspiring classes, make n take and such fabulous kits for sale! You know we love them!! And thank you to Jenn, my assistant and overnight guru --- a huge help as always! I couldn't do it without ya.

Please send me pictures of your retreat experience so I can share them with the rest of the Go Scrapping world :) and feel free to post your comments here and chat with us on the Go Scrapping Message Board. Always love to hear from you!

Well, I better run. I have lots to do to get ready for our next retreat that will be held in a month in Blue Mountain. Looking forward to that too!!! Classes will be posted tomorrow.
